(Greensburg, IN) – The Hospital Foundation of Decatur County trumpeted last year’s successes and looked ahead to 2026 at the annual Donor Appreciation Luncheon on Tuesday afternoon at the Knights of St. John Hall on Wilder Street in Greensburg.

Executive Director Mandy Lohrum recapped 2025, a year in which $349,175 was raised to support Decatur County Memorial Hospital’s (DCMH) healthcare initiatives.

“We are thanking our donors and thanking the community for all of the support that they give to the foundation,” Lohrum said. “And it’s just a great way to tell them the story of what we did last year with their money.”

She added the foundation gave $71,000 in department grants last year to help the hospital.

“That was the largest amount we’ve ever done, so we’re really proud of that,” Lohrum said.

She credited donors’ generosity for making that happen.

“We’re just really appreciative of all of our donors and the support that they provide to us,” Lohrum said.

Looking ahead, Lohrum touted this year’s fundraising events

  • Run The Santee Run/Walk on March 28;
  • The annual Hospital Foundation Gala on May 1 at the new Community Building;
  • The “Fore Caring” Golf Outing on June 28 at North Branch Golf Course;
  • The Cancer Care Walk in July on a date to be determined, and
  • Tee Off “Fore” Ta Tas on September 11.

DCMH President and CEO Rex McKinney noted there’s great support for the hospital foundation.

“We celebrated that today with great advocates and donors to our hospital foundation and invite others to explore those opportunities to say ‘thank you’ and celebrating the contributions to healthcare here in Decatur County,” McKinney said.

He said one of the key components of DCMH’s partnership with the foundation is bringing screening tools to the community.

“Healthcare is more and more challenging to access for our community members, so we want to partner with the foundation and provide those screening exams, free of charge, to our community at a variety of events,” McKinney said. “We provided over 70 community events last year, as well as over 4,000 screenings for individuals in our community. So that’s just a great way that we partner with our foundation – to bring to the community the great service and access and care that our community needs.”

DCMH is also one of the top employers in the area. It was reported at the event that the hospital employs 420 people full-time, with a payroll of $34 million.

Outgoing foundation board member Jacob Evans was honored by president Cindy McCamment for six years of service. Evans time on the board included three years as president.

The Hospital Foundation of Decatur County was founded in 1992 as a 501(c)3 organization to provide additional financial support for the healthcare initiatives of Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
