Kristine Kay “Kris” (nee Schumacher) Lindemann, age 73, of Batesville, Indiana, passed peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. Born July 19, 1952, in Batesville, she is the daughter of Edward John and Arvilla (nee Stevens) Schumacher. She was married to Greg Monty Lindemann on June 26th, 1976, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville, Indiana.
Kris is survived by her daughter Erin (John Hoebbel) of Cincinnati, OH; sisters Vickie (Will Scheele) Creegar of Batesville, IN, Sherry (George) Ertel of Sunman, IN, Kim (Jeff) Oblinger of Batesville, IN, Mary Jon (Steve) McCaig of Greensburg, IN, and Amy (Matt) Gallo of Indianapolis; granddaughters Hazel and Althea Lindemann-Hoebbel; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased in death by her parents and her husband Greg Lindemann.
Kris enjoyed traveling in her RV with her husband Greg – often visiting National Parks, camping along the Ohio River, and spending time in Florida. Before retirement, Kris proudly ran her business (The Lindemann Company) that she owned with Greg. During those years, she looked forward to annual snorkeling trips to the Caribbean with friends and sisters.
Kris had a wide circle, but it was the one-on-one conversations with cherished old friends that she held closest to her heart. It wasn’t unusual to be invited to join Kris on a golf cart ride through the trails at her home or to take a quick spin to Liberty Park for ice cream. Kris’ granddaughters, Hazel and Althea, meant the world to her and often helped her find something to celebrate on hard days.
Kris was known for her organizational skills, intuition, and preparedness. Although she was a business woman at heart, she had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. We all know that Kris is now relaxing somewhere with Greg, maybe drinking a cold Budweiser, and having a good time once again.
Visitation is Saturday, March 14th, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville. A Graveside Service will follow at 12:15 p.m., at St. Mark’s Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the National Parks Foundation or friends of Hazel and Althea’s who are in need at Support and Stability for Kiyomi – GO FUND ME.
