The meet featured a sprint-heavy format that differed from a traditional high school lineup, placing a premium on short-distance races, quick recovery and relay execution. In addition to standard relays, teams also competed in a mixed medley relay, testing lineup flexibility in a fast-paced setting. Scoring was limited to two swimmers or relays per team in each event, elevating the importance of clean swims and strategic placement.
On the boys side, Matthew Lambert paced the Bulldogs with a win in the 50 freestyle and a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle. Batesville also picked up points across multiple stroke events, with Sam Richardson and Parker Oldham contributing scoring swims in butterfly, breaststroke and the individual medley. The Bulldogs’ A relay units remained competitive throughout the meet, highlighted by a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay.
A scoring discrepancy in the boys 200 freestyle relay is currently under review. Batesville’s A relay finished fourth in the race but was mistakenly recorded as a no-show in the initial results. Once corrected, the adjustment is expected to improve the team’s final placement.
The Batesville girls turned in a balanced performance across the sprint-focused lineup. Alexis Schiller earned a second-place finish in the 50 breaststroke and followed with another strong swim in the 100 breaststroke. Samantha Adams scored in the 100 individual medley and contributed to relay efforts, while Lexi Harris, Kate Fullenkamp and Grace Copley added points in sprint freestyle and backstroke events.
From a season perspective, the meet served as a valuable benchmark. Sprint-heavy formats reward precision, fast takeovers and the ability to race repeatedly with limited rest. With the EIAC Conference Championships scheduled for Jan. 10, 2026, at East Central, the meet offered Batesville an early look at both the venue and the competitive environment it will face at the conference level.
Batesville continues a busy stretch of competition with a meet at Shelbyville on Jan. 6, followed by the EIAC Conference Championships on Jan. 10. The Bulldogs remain active through the remainder of January with additional meets scheduled for Jan. 13, Jan. 15, Jan. 20, Jan. 22 and Jan. 27, building toward sectional competition set for the first and third weeks of February.
