South Ripley edged Batesville 59-52 in girls basketball heard Saturday night on the Sports Voice. The Raiders Kaiya Rinear led all scorers with 22 points. Teammate Claire Samples added 11. Kaylin Kathman led the Bulldogs with 17 points; Nora Wiedeman added 11, and Maggie Jelinek tossed in 10. South Ripley improves to 5-1 while Batesville falls to 3-2. BHS won the two-quarter JV contest 18-6.

In other girls hoops games on Saturday, East Central topped Hammond Central 68-32; North Decatur beat South Decatur 42-35; it was Franklin County over Shawe Memorial 56-32, and Trinity Lutheran grounded Jac-Cen-Del 76-29.

St. Louis 8th grade boys basketball topped St. Michael’s 39-16 in the first round of Saturday’s Oldenburg Academy junior high Classic. Evan Jennings led the way with 13 points and Nicholas Lieland chipped in 1o for the Cardinals. St. Mary’s bested St. Louis 32-27 in the second round. Jennings paced the Cards with 16 points.

The New England Patriots tripped the Cincinnati Bengals 26-20 yesterday at Paycor Stadium. The Bengals have lost four in a row and drop to 3-8. They’ll be back in action on Thanksgiving Night at Baltimore.

The Kansas City Chiefs rallied to beat the Indianapolis Colts 23-20 in overtime at Arrowhead Stadium. The Colts’ offense stalled and an 11-point fourth quarter lead evaporated. Harrison Butker’s 27 yard field goal in the extra period won it for the Chiefs. Indianapolis falls to 8-3 with the loss. The Colts return home to face Houston next Sunday.

The Cincinnati Reds have non-tendered catcher Will Banfield, and right handed pitchers Carson Spiers and Roddery Munoz. The team also avoided arbitration and agreed to terms on a one-year Major League contract with left handed pitcher Sam Moll. This puts the Reds 40-man roster at 38.
