
(Versailles, IN) – Three new Indiana State Police Lateral Academy graduates have reported for duty at the Versailles Post.
Probationary troopers Logan Gray, C.J. Miller and Austin Jefferson completed an eight-week academy through the ISP Lateral Program.
They’re beginning the next phase of training, which includes 14 weeks riding with veteran troopers.
Upon successful completion of field training, the new troopers will be assigned a State Police vehicle and begin solo patrols.
The ISP Lateral Program features instruction that includes more than 250 hours of structured training in law enforcement techniques, as well as hands-on training at the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy.
The curriculum included criminal and traffic law instruction, emergency vehicle operations, psychology, crash investigation, self-defense, first responder, and other general law enforcement-related training.

- Trooper Logan Gray, age 28, is a 2015 graduate of Southwestern High School (Hanover). After high school, Trp. Gray worked for Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre until 2020. From 2021 to 2025, Trp. Gray served as a deputy with the Jefferson County (IN) Sheriff’s Office. He lives in Jefferson County with his wife and children.
- Trooper C. J. Miller, age 35, is a 2009 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. Trp. Miller served as a deputy and detective with the Jefferson County (IN) Sheriff’s Office from 2016 to 2024. He then served one year with the Madison Police Department before being hired by Indiana State Police. Trp. Miller lives in Jefferson County with his wife and children.
- Trooper Austin Jefferson, age 29, is a 2014 graduate of Lawrenceburg High School. After high school, Trp. Jefferson attended Thomas More University before working for Southeast Regional Community Corrections from 2015 to 2017. He then served as a deputy with the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office from 2017 to 2018 and with the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office from 2018 to 2025, including two years as a K-9 Handler. Trp. Jefferson lives in Dearborn County with his wife and child.
