Harold Nicholas Rosfeld, age 95, of Batesville (formerly of St. Leon), passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025. He was born November 15, 1929, in Franklin County, the son of Andrew and Alma (Theobald) Rosfeld. On November 11, 1950, he married Mary Lou Glaub at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Leon, Indiana. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2012.
During his working years, Harold was a truck driver for Cobb’s Turkey Farm, Gulf Oil (Chevron), and later drove part-time for Straber Oil.
His greatest pride and joy was his family. Harold loved when the whole family gathered at his home for holidays and birthdays. He enjoyed sitting on his deck and reading. He would read almost anything he could get his hands on. He also enjoyed watching TV, his favorites were news stations and game shows. He was meticulous about keeping his lawn in perfect condition, mowing it himself until age 94, and he took great pride in keeping his 2016 Ford pickup spotless.
Harold was also well known for his fried chicken. For many years he fried chicken at the St. Leon Fireman’s Festival as well as at countless weddings. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, where he continued to fry chicken and spent many afternoons and evenings visiting with friends, playing cards, and discussing politics.
He will be dearly missed by his children: Tom (Sheree) Rosfeld of Cleves, OH; Bonnie Boyce of Sunman, IN; Connie (Mark) Hall of New Alsace, IN; and John (Lisa) Rosfeld of Batesville, IN. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jason (Jamie) Rosfeld, Erin Rosfeld, Chelsie Rosfeld, Nick (Brenda) Rosfeld, Brandon (Rebecca) Boyce, Sean (Ashley) Boyce, Kelly (RJ) Beck, Chris (Amanda) Hall, Andrew Rosfeld, and Josh (Sarah) Rosfeld; along with 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Harold was preceded in death by his brother, Vernon Rosfeld.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 9:00–11:00 am at All Saints Parish (St. Joseph Campus) in St. Leon. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Knights of Columbus or the Alzheimer’s Association. Memorials may be brought to the service or mailed to Meyers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 202, Batesville, IN 47006.
