(Southeastern IN) – Genesis: Pathways to Success concluded its 2025 summer internship program with Abe Streator, Kloie Lehman, Kate Weber, and Mya McNew.
These interns assisted with the marketing, development, and implementation of Genesis’ summer programming.
Abe Streator was a returning intern to Genesis and served as a Program Development Intern. In his role, he helped plan and develop A Summer of STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, & Mathematics) camps, while overseeing fellow Program Development Interns.
When asked about his time with Genesis: Pathways to Success, Streator stated, “My time at Genesis has taught me to never stop being a kid at heart. Many of our students view the world in a unique way and find time to take pleasure in seemingly minute details. They were unafraid to express themselves—through the stories they crafted, the creative ways they solved problems, and their interactions with one another. They didn’t confine themselves–they took on each day with open arms. Being surrounded by this positive energy reminded me to always have fun and to be unapologetically myself.”
Streator will continue his education through Indiana University, studying History and German. He will
also be spending a semester abroad in Germany.
Both Kloie Lehman and Kate Weber served as Program Development Interns, in which they guided and mentored students during A Summer of STREAM camps. They completed behind-the-scenes work to make camps run smoothly.
Lehman stated, “During my internship this summer, I learned about how much work goes into A Summer of STREAM behind-the-scenes and how important the work we do here is to our community. Kids look forward to our camps throughout the summer and are sad when they are over. My favorite part of the summer was getting to know the Genesis Team and Camp Hogwarts.”
Lehman will continue her education in Florida, where she will spend a semester working with the Disney College Program. Following that, Lehman plans to head back to the University of Vermont to finish her second year of college.
When asked to recap her summer with Genesis: Pathways to Success, Weber stated, “During my time as an intern at the A Summer of STREAM camps, I strengthened many skills, made new connections, and overall enjoyed the work. The combination of being in the office and at camp locations allowed me to see the importance of work behind the scenes. I found nothing more rewarding than seeing an in-office project come to fruition at a camp. This summer and this supportive Genesis Pathways to Success team have made a fulfilling and memorable experience that has benefited me in countless ways.”
Weber will continue her education at Indiana University Indianapolis, where she will study Dental Hygiene to complete her second year.
Mya McNew served as the Marketing Intern. In her role, she distributed press releases, blog posts, and social media posts, expanding Genesis’ media coverage and outreach throughout Southeastern Indiana. Along with this, she aided with the implementation of A Summer of STREAM camps.
“Being a part of the Genesis team this summer has been such a blessing,” Mc New said. “I spent time understanding and researching different aspects of marketing, along with marketing all of A Summer of STREAM. I feel like my skillset and confidence grew tremendously because of all the opportunities Genesis provided. I am thrilled to be working remotely for my Fall semester! I look forward to continuing to work with the team and the possibility of growth for Genesis social media.”
McNew will continue her education at Indiana Wesleyan University, where she will finish her third year studying Public Relations and Media. Along with this, she will continue her internship remotely with Genesis: Pathways to Success.
“Our interns always bring incredible energy, fresh ideas, and unique perspectives that enrich our entire organization,” stated Clarice Patterson, Executive Director of Genesis: Pathways to Success. “Their meaningful contributions go far beyond support–they drive innovation, challenge our thinking, and leave a lasting impact on the work we do. Southeastern Indiana is so fortunate to have young adults who care about the next generation of leaders and the future of philanthropy.”
