5/2/1938 – 8/11/2025.
Paul Edward Graver, affectionately known as Paul Ed, was born to Leroy and Deloris Graver on May 2nd, 1938 in Dillsboro, Indiana. He was the middle of 5 children, with two older siblings David and Ruth, and two younger siblings John and Lois. His vocation and calling in life looked different than most. Rather than leaving this world with a legacy of wealth and heirs, Paul leaves behind a legacy of selfless giving, acts of kindness, and nieces and nephews who considered him a 3rd grandparent. His words and actions exemplified the Gospel of Christ for hundreds, if not thousands of individuals. During his first 60 years of life, Paul was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro, Indiana. When his parents passed away in 1997, he made a move to Harrison, Ohio and transferred to Christ Lutheran Church where he was an active member of the church and choir.
A favorite expression of Paul’s was “It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.” Paul was defined by his willingness to help others and volunteer his time. He served God, the Lutheran church, his aging parents, and complete strangers. He spent decades of his life entertaining multiple generations of nieces and nephews with wagon rides around Dillsboro, bike rides to the local drug store to buy candy, playing cards, and listening to Red’s games on an old-fashioned radio, provided you could tolerate the pipe-smoke filling the room. The birthday cards and small gifts he gave to so many of us have remained precious keepsakes.
Paul Ed lived a remarkable 87 years and is survived by dozens of Graver and Greive heirs who all have fond memories they will continue to cherish for a lifetime. Paul is the last surviving grandchild of John and Clara Graver and is proceeded in death by his parents Leroy and Deloris, and siblings David, Ruth, John and Lois, as well as his nephew and nieces Robert John Graver (1968), Karen Andria Blankenship (2020), and Amy Lynn Graver (2023). What a reunion it must have been when Paul Ed arrived in Heaven on the night of August 11th, 2025!
The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life. The visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro, Indiana on 8/19/25 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00, and there will be a light luncheon after the service in the church basement.
