(Greensburg, IN) – During the official 2025-26 Rotary International year changeover of The Rotary Club of Greensburg 3437 District 6580, President Rob DeHoff presented awards to several Rotarians.

The most prestigious of these awards is the Jack Hurst Rotarian of the Year for 2024-25.

The late Jack Hurst was a longtime Greensburg Rotarian known for his impeccable club attendance and his tireless efforts to lead the Rotary way of life, Service Above Self. He was also instrumental in bringing new members into the club while invigorating and motivating existing members.

This year’s Jack Hurst Rotarian of the Year Award was presented to Nathan Vandrey, for his behind-the-scenes efforts, including producing the weekly newsletter, setting up and tearing down at Rotary special projects or events, and for his commitment to the club. Nathan’s wife, Lola, accepted the award on his behalf while Nathan was away on a special project.

“I greatly appreciate being selected for the Jack Hurst Award,” Vandrey said. “Service Above Self has been a guiding value from my time in the Air Force to my time as a Rotarian.”

This year saw the introduction of two new awards, the Dr. Art Turner Legacy Leader Award, presented to Rotarian Steve Freeman.

Dr. Art Turner, former Greensburg Community Schools Superintendent, has been a Greensburg Rotarian since 1991. Both Turner and Freeman have been generous with their time, financial, and other efforts as Rotarians.

The second new award established is the Robbins Rotary Engagement Champion Award, presented in honor of the Robbins family, including present members William (Bill) Robbins, who has been a Rotarian since 1967, Bryan Robbins, a Rotarian since 2006, and Jennifer Robbins Sturgis, a member since 2013.

The award was presented to Rotarian Jeff Emsweller for his efforts in public relations and social media presence.

“What a journey it has been,” outgoing two-term President Rob DeHoff said. “We have something special here in this club and community. We had remarkable membership growth this year. Also, growth in giving back to our community and supporting projects. You all believe in rolling up your sleeves for the betterment of our club, the community, and Rotary International, and I thank you for it.”

DeHoff was most proud of the club’s efforts to raise enough funds to provide life-saving AED machines at local sporting areas.

The Greensburg Rotary Club 3437 District 6580 meets on Mondays at 12 p.m. at The Branch Gathering Place and Coffee House.
