Robert R. Baker, age 75, of Sunman, Indiana passed away on Friday May 16, 2025, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Upon returning home he met Carol Voegele, and they were united in marriage on December 29, 1973, at St. Louis Church in Batesville.
Bob was an over the road truck driver for over 40 years and retired in April 2015. He drove in almost all the states and Canada. He never met a stranger and always had a story to tell. He especially enjoyed time at home with his family and friends. He loved everything outdoors…from tent camping to finally purchasing an R.V; his campfires whether to just sit and enjoy a cold beer with family and friends, cooking sausages and hot dogs over the open fire, hanging a pot of beef stew over his tripod or frying bacon for all the kids and grandkids. Bob and Carol also enjoyed traveling having visited many states and taken several cruises to the Caribbean Islands plus a cruise through the Panama Canal Transit and Acapulco, Mexico.
In addition to his loving wife Carol, he is survived by his daughter Lori (Phil) Jackson and a son Jason (Jessica Bowling) Baker, grandchildren Emma and Jayden Howard, Cameron and Carter Baker and a step grandson River Jackson. Also, siblings, Willard (Violet) Baker, Dianne (Morgan) Hacker and the late Alice Baker and Barbara Penny Baker along with his parents. He is also survived by sisters in-law Nancy (Darrell) Metz, Linda (Floyd) Riggs, Janet (Ted) Meer and Carolyn (the late Ronald) Voegele along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob had chosen cremation. Family and friends may visit on Saturday May 24 from 2:00 until 4:00 at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home in Sunman. Rev. Harold Jackson will officiate a memorial service at 4:00 which will be followed by military honors. A private burial will be held at a later date at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Sunman, Indiana.
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the Margaret Mary Cancer Center and the Margaret Mary Hospice for everything they have done over the past two years. Memorial contributions can be given to either of them directly or given at the funeral home.
