Batesville doubled up Greensburg 6-3 in varsity baseball last evening. Bulldog senior Will Jaisle was dominant on the mound, striking out 11 Pirate batters while giving up 3 hits, 3 runs, and walking 4 over 4 innings. Batesville clubbed 12 hits in the game. The Bulldogs improve to 9-3 overall and are in first place in the EIAC with a 6-1 mark….Greensburg took the JV contest, 10-0.

The St. Louis boys finished second in a three-way track and field meet with Batesville and North Decatur last night. The Cardinal girls came in third.

Batesville won the EIAC golf meet by carding a 157. Jac-Cen-Del was second at 187, followed by Milan with 190. Bulldog senior Jackson Day took meet MVP honors with a 34.

Batesville Middle School golf won a four-way match with Rising Sun, St. Louis and North Decatur. The Bulldogs as a team shot a 171. Stella Maple led the way for BMS by carding a 38.

The Pacers can close out their opening round playoff series with a win against the Milwaukee Bucks in Game Five this evening in downtown Indianapolis. Indiana holds a commanding three games to one lead in the best of seven series. Airtime on the Sports Voice is 5:30.

The Reds beat the St. Louis Cardinals 3-1 last night at Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati has won a season high five games in a row and improves to 16-13 on the year. Nick Martinez gave up a run on five hits, two walks and three strikeouts over 6 innings to notch his first win of the year. Emilio Pagan pitched a perfect 9th inning to earn his eighth save. Offensively, Jose Trevino homered; Noelvi Marte continued his hot hitting with an RBI triple, and Gavin Lux went 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. He and Elly De La Cruz both extended their hitting streaks to 12 games. The series continues tonight when Brady Singer goes to the mound for the Reds.
