(Brookville, IN) – Franklin County scored a run early and made it stand up in a 1-0 victory at home over Batesville on Thursday.
The lone run of the game came in the bottom of the 1st inning on a Garrett Kuntz RBI single. The Wildcat catcher went 1 for 2 at the plate with the one RBI.
Both teams were strong on the hill. Franklin County pitchers struck out six, while Batesville sat down 12.
Blake Stephenson earned the win for the Wildcats. The righty gave up two hits and no runs over 5 1/3 innings, striking out six and walking seven.
Carson Meyer took the loss for Batesville. The Bulldogs starting pitcher went 3 innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out four and walking one.
Alex Krekeler and Ronan Post each collected one hit for Batesville. The Bulldogs had a strong eye at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Dane Dudley and Cayden Drake led BHS with two walks each.
Batesville was sure-handed defensively and didn’t commit a single error. Krekeler made the most plays with 12.
Kuntz, Aiden Blair, and Braylon Kruthaupt each collected one hit for Franklin County.
The Wildcats didn’t commit a single error in the field. Kuntz had the most defensive chances with six.
The Bulldogs dropped to 7-2 on the season and 5-1 in the EIAC. Their next conference matchup is Monday, April 28 at Greensburg, which is sitting in first place in the conference.
