Anna L Weekly, 87, of St. Peters, Indiana passed away Wednesday, March 19th, 2025 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville, Indiana.
She was born on February 14th, 1938 at home in St. Peters, Indiana, the 6th child of William and Helen (Koetter) Messerschmidt. Annie’s mother didn’t yet know she was with child when her husband passed away in 1937 so Annie never had the honor of meeting her dad.
On October 23rd, 1976 Annie married Joe Weekly at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, they had a wonderful, faith-filled life together in Dover, Indiana. They loved watching old westerns, dancing and listening to country music. When Joe passed away on March 12th, 2012 Annie moved in with her sister Rita Alig and they enjoyed the last 12-1/2 years together. Survivors include her sister Rita of St. Peters and one brother-in-law Joe Niese of Dover. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to Annie’s husband and parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Wiwi and Mary Klump and two brothers, Harry (Henry) Messerschmidt and Carl (Jake) Messerschmidt.
Annie leaves behind a wonderful legacy of hand-beading over 10,000 rosaries; these were sent to Christians all over the world. She also volunteered many years at the St. Peter’s and St. John’s church festivals, St. Leon’s Fireman’s Festival and N. Dearborn Food Pantry. She loved fishing and it was said that she could clean a fish better than most! She loved gardening and all that it produced. Whenever anyone stopped to visit, she would ask if they had time for cards and somehow always ended up with the best hand!
Before she was married and after her husband’s death, she attended mass for 51 years at St. Peters and during her marriage she was a 36-year member of St. Johns in Dover.
