(Greensburg, IN) – Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) continues to break barriers in women’s healthcare, making vital screenings and education more accessible through its annual Women’s Health Expo.
Held on March 8, 2025, the expo introduced an improved event flow, an online registration system, and expanded accessibility—including dedicated team members ensuring each woman received all recommended preventive screenings for her age, and an extended event timeframe to accommodate more attendees.
Additionally, DCMH streamlined the screening process to serve as many people as possible while maintaining a seamless and welcoming experience for all.
DCMH was able to provide comprehensive free screenings, including:
- A1c & Lipid Panel (Diabetes & Heart Health)
- Mental Health Screening
- Skin Cancer Screening
- Thyroid Function Tests (Three Types)
- Vitamin Deficiency Tests (Two Types)
- Urinary Incontinence Screening
These vital screenings, conducted by Dr. Duncan Hamilton, Dr. Krystle Roberts, Dr. Karen Summe, Dr. Scott Washburn, Dr. Amanda Williams, and Nurse Practitioners Marie Menchhofer, Kelly Miller, and Jill Prickel, help detect serious health conditions early and provide essential care for those who may not receive regular check-ups. Made possible through Decatur County Memorial Hospital and the generosity of the Hospital Foundation of Decatur County and its supporters, these screenings remained free, ensuring community members could receive life-saving evaluations they might otherwise go without.
Beyond health assessments, attendees explored exclusive vendors, featuring handcrafted goods from 10 local artisans like Backwoods Basics, Barmaids Mobile Bartending with Mocktails, Conns Creek Antiques and Altered Creations, Gypsy Soul, JBloom Jewelry & Permalinx Permanent Jewelry by Jordan Einhaus, Mama Byrd Made, Painting the Town, She Laughs Luxe Bath Products, Tater’s Western Co., and The Homemade Mama.
Meanwhile, DCMH departments—including Cancer Care, Empowered Community, Family Medicine, Rehabilitation Services, and Senior Life Solutions—offered valuable health resources.
A standout addition this year was a series of expert-led presentations by leading physicians:
- Dr. Slaughter (Oncology) – Strengthening Our Community: Strategies for Cancer Prevention
- Dr. McCullough (Family Medicine) – Empowered Wellness: Navigating Colon Health
- Dr. Singh (Neurology) – Headache Help: Key Insights for Your Health
Attendees also enjoyed guided tours of the DCMH Rehabilitation and Medical Offices building and a house-made brunch by the DCMH Dietary Team, complete with delicious bites and a celebratory atmosphere.
Expanding Access, Breaking Barriers
This year, 93% of attendees utilized DCMH’s new online registration system, reflecting the growing demand for convenient, tech-friendly healthcare solutions. By allowing patients to start the scheduling process online instead of making the first call, DCMH is improving access to care.
“Providing an easy, digital-first way to begin the registration process helps remove initial barriers to care,” said Liz McCoy, Marketing and Communications Manager of DCMH. “Our goal is to create a more seamless and welcoming experience, ensuring that every patient feels empowered to take charge of their health.”
With expanded screenings, improved accessibility, and an even stronger focus on patient experience, the 2025 Women’s Health Expo took last year’s success to new heights—proving once again that when healthcare is made more accessible, more people thrive.
“We are committed to providing innovative, patient-centered care,” said Rex McKinney, CEO/President of DCMH. “The Women’s Health Expo is one way we ensure women in our community have access to the screenings and education they need, in a welcoming and uplifting environment.”
