(Sunman, IN) – A Sunman resident is facing drug charges following a traffic stop Thursday night.

The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office says officers were dispatched to a home in Sunman around 7:54 p.m. for a possible domestic altercation.
Sunman and Milan police officers informed Ripley County deputies that a man drove off from the scene prior to their arrival.
Deputy Ned Thompson located the man’s vehicle on State Road 48 in the Napoleon area and initiated a traffic stop.
While Thompson talked to the driver, identified as 43-year-old Aaron Sloan, deputy Justin Bachelor deployed his K9 partner Dex to conduct a free air sniff on the vehicle.
Investigators say Dex gave a positive alert to the smell of narcotics in the vehicle, where Batchelor and Sunman Officer Zach Powell found suspected methamphetamine, multiple bags of marijuana, and a scale.
Sloan was arrested and taken to the Ripley County Jail.
He’s facing preliminary charges of Possession of Methamphetamine (Level 6 felony); Possession of Marijuana (Class B misdemeanor), and Possession of Paraphernalia (Class C misdemeanor).
