Batesville topped Rushville 59-31 in a girls basketball game heard last night on WRBI. The Bulldogs improve to 14-7 overall and 4-2 in the EIAC…Elsewhere, Heritage Christian knocked off Class 1A #4 Oldenburg 60-31. The Twisters fall to 16-4…North Decatur rolled over Milan 65-8…Madison got past East Central 46-43…Franklin County nipped Shenandoah 47-46…Jac-Cen-Del beat Rising Sun 52-43…and it was South Ripley over Southwestern (Hanover) 52-36.

Coming up tonight in boys basketball, Franklin County visits Batesville. It’s Garrett’s Gang night at the Dawg Pound. This year’s Garrett’s Gang basketball camp participants will be recognized. WRBI coverage begins around 7:15. In other games, 14-0 South Ripley is at Milan…Greensburg is home against Brownstown Central…North Decatur travels to Morristown…and Oldenburg Academy welcomes in Trinity Lutheran.

Batesville took both the 7th and 8th grade SEI Tournament championships last night in front of a standing room only crowd in the BMS gym. The Bulldogs topped the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles in the 7th grade game 43-23. The Bulldogs finish the season at 19-3…BMS took the 8th grade contest over crosstown rival St. Louis 49-34. The Bulldogs end the year at 18-4 while the Cardinals finish a 18-3.

The San Antonio Spurs routed the Pacers 140-110 yesterday in Paris, France. The two teams meet again tomorrow at Noon in the French capital.
11th ranked Purdue hosts #21 Michigan in Big Ten college basketball tonight. Tipoff in West Lafayette is at 8 p.m.
The Bengals made it official yesterday and hired Al Golden as the team’s defensive coordinator. Golden was the Bengals linebackers coach during the 2020 and ’21 seasons before going to Notre Dame, where he was defensive coordinator for three years. He interviewed for the job with the Bengals the day after the Fighting Irish lost to Ohio State in the College Football Playoff national title game. Golden informed Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman of his decision to leave for Cincinnati on Wednesday.
Lou Anarumo was introduced yesterday as the Indianapolis Colts’ defensive coordinator. Anarumo spent the past six seasons in the same role with the Bengals. He was dismissed by Cincinnati after the 2024 season. Anarumo succeeds Gus Bradley, who was let go shortly after the end of the ’24 campaign.
