William Rollin Manford, 90, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Ripley Crossing in Milan, Indiana. He was born on October 31, 1934, the son of the late William Rollin Manford and Eleanor Smith.
Rollin loved to play and watch sports. He played football and baseball in high school and played softball as a young man.
Rollin went to work at the Tanners Creek plant of I & M in Lawrenceburg as soon as he graduated from high school. He began working for the plant in 1953 as a laborer in the utility department. He also spent time working on the river handling coal. He worked his way up and became a maintenance planner in the maintenance department. He retired after 42 years.
Rollin was an avid outdoorsman and spent a lot of time pursuing his interests of hunting, fishing, golfing, and cutting wood. His hobby was woodworking, and he had a sophisticated wood shop in his basement. He made jewelry boxes, grandfather clocks, kitchen cabinets, gun cabinets, vanities, and other furniture.
Rollin attended Life Church in Aurora and was an active participant and volunteer at the church. He was church treasurer for a time and served on many projects around the church and helped those in the congregation.
He is survived by his daughter, Lori (David) Arrell of Grove City, Ohio, and son, Robin Manford of Aurora, Indiana; grandchildren Jayson (Emily) Arrell and Kacie Arrell; and three brothers, Gary Manford of Aurora, Indiana, Douglas (Carolyn) Manford of Aurora, Indiana, and Stephen (Sue) Manford of Moores Hill, Indiana. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Laraine Stonebraker and LaVerne Williams, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marlene Manford, and his parents.
Friends are invited to visit on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11 am at Life Church, located at 201 W. Conwell St. in Aurora. A service will follow at 11:am, officiated by Rev. Kenny Hopper.
