Greensburg fell at Lawrenceburg, three sets to one in varsity volleyball Tuesday night. The Pirates are now 6-3 on the season.

Shelbyville edged Greensburg 220-222 in girls’ golf Tuesday night. Lydia Hersley led the Pirates with a round of 50.

Congratulations to South Ripley cross country runner Mason Bascom and Milan soccer player Cassidy Derico, who were named top performers in the ORVC for their efforts last week. Bascom was named conference runner of the week after he recorded a time 19:18 at Southwestern Shelby. Derico is one of three soccer players of the week after she scored six goals in two matches.

Kickoff for North Decatur’s home football game tomorrow night vs. Eastern Hancock has been moved to 7:30 because of the extreme heat. South Decatur’s football game tomorrow night at Shenandoah has also been moved to a 7:30 start time.

The IHSAA has announced the boys, girls and Unified track and field state finals will be moved to North Central High School in Indianapolis next June. The boys’ finals will take place on Friday, June 6 with the girls and unified events the following day – Saturday, June 7. The track and field state finals were held at Indiana University in Bloomington 19 of the last 21 years.

Also, the IHSAA Executive Committee has approved the addition of girls’ lacrosse to the emerging sport process for the 2025-26 school year. The move begins the process of girls’ lacrosse eventually becoming a recognized spring sport and sponsorship of an official state tournament.

The Oakland A’s topped the Reds 9-6 last night at Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati has now dropped nine of its last 12 games and falls to 63-70 on the year. Reds reliever Emilio Pagan gave up a three-run homer and allowed a total of four runs and five hits in the top of the 8th inning, and was tagged with the loss. After trailing 5-0 going into the bottom of the 7th, the Reds took the lead with six runs in that frame, highlighted by Will Benson’s three-run homer – his 13th round tripper of the season. The two teams wrap up the series this afternoon at a special start time of 5:10 because of the Thomas Rhett post-game concert. Our coverage on 103.9 WRBI begins at 4:40.

In the WNBA, the Indiana Fever topped the Connecticut Sun 84-80 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Four Indiana players scored in double figures, led by Kelsey Mitchell’s 23 points. Caitlin Clark added 19.
