BATESVILLE, IN — The Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce held ribbon-cutting ceremonies on Friday for Batesville Neighbors and a mural on the outside of Kids Discovery Factory.

Mindy Scripture says she started the Batesville Neighbors magazine to bring families and neighbors together.

“I love hearing about the families who live in Batesville and I am always looking for more stories, recipes, pets, sports, and any other interesting content the Neighbors would love to share. I am
privileged to have an amazing team to put out Batesville Neighbors,” Scripture said.

Scripture’s staff is composed of content coordinator Suzzi Romines, photographer Sandy Zeigler, and designer Sammi Blackman.

She says if you would like to send something to put in the magazine, send it to [email protected] or to [email protected].

Batesville Neighbors is distributed by Wisconsin-based Best Version Media.

The mural outside Kids Discovery Factory (KDF) that was unveiled Friday was painted by San Diego artist Hanna Gundrum. It is the result of a collaboration between the Batesville Area Arts Council (BAAC), Batesville Main Street, and KDF.

“We are so pleased with the mural,’ said KDF Executive Director Emili Uden. “Hanna was a joy to work with! We love the whimsical STEAM imagery. We want people to see KDF as a playful space for kids, but also a place where kids can make discoveries, try new things, and explore their passions.”

The mural’s aluminum panels were coated with a special UV clear coat by Enneking Auto Body. The panels, which can be moved when KDF expands its facility, were installed by Rowland Graphics.

“The new mural compliments that vision for KDF and we are grateful to Hanna, BAAC, Batesville Main Street, Rowland Graphics, and Enneking Auto Body for their roles in the project,” Uden said.
