GREENSBURG, IN — The Hospital Foundation of Decatur County, which provides financial support to Decatur County Memorial Hospital’s healthcare initiatives,  held its Donor Appreciation-Annual Meeting Wednesday at the Greensburg Community Learning Center.

Executive Director Mandy Lohrum presented a review of 2021; the grants awarded to the hospital last year, and thanked donors and sponsors for their support.

Lohrum also introduced a new giving initiative: the 1922 Club, which celebrates the hospital’s establishment 100 years ago.

“It’s open to employees through payroll deduction, and we also have it open to the community to give towards that,” Lohrum said. “We hope to raise $100,000 and that will go back toward the projects that support the mission of Decatur County Memorial Hospital. ”

How can the public contribute to the 1922 Club?

“If you go to DCMH.net and to the Foundation side, and there’s a spot on there that reads “General Giving” and you just choose ‘1922 Club,’” Lohrum said.

Among the items discussed by hospital President and CEO Rex McKinney was the groundbreaking expected in late spring for a new rehab services medical office building.

“It’s approximately a 10,000 square foot building on the first floor and 8,000 square feet on the second floor,” McKinney said. ” There will be physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy, and it will also have some clinic space available.”

McKinney says the planned facility reflects growth in Decatur County Memorial Hospital’s physical therapy department.

“We have exceptional clinicians in that area but the space needed to be uplifted so we intend to do that,” McKinney added. “So we’re really excited about that groundbreaking coming up. It’s also a great project to make the 100th anniversary of DCMH serving Decatur County.”

The new facility will be on campus, just north of the hospital on the former Pleak Hardware and Stier Heating and Cooling sites, which were recently acquired by DCMH.
