Russel Edward “Ed” Baker age, 75

Russel Edward “Ed” Baker, age 75, of Brookville, Indiana died suddenly Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at his residence.

Born July 8, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana he was the son of the late Russell & Bertha (Reed) Baker. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy. On November 30, 1963 he and the former Sandra Lee Turnbull were united in marriage, and she survives.

Ed was retired from the former Ford/Visteon in Connersville, Indiana where he worked in Management for over 45 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Klemmes Corner, Fairfield Masonic Lodge #98 F. & A.M.; President of the Franklin County Cemetery Commission; as well as a founding Member of the Civil War Roundtable in Cambridge City. He was a man who cared very deeply for his family, and in his leisure time he enjoyed being outdoors hunting & fishing, and was a very interested in history and the Civil War. He had worked tirelessly as President of the Franklin County Cemetery Commission restoring and preserving the pioneer cemeteries of Franklin County.

Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 54 years, Sandy; one son & daughter-in-law, Edward “Lad” (Rhonda) Baker of Brookville; a daughter & son-in-law, Cassie (Tom) Baker-Creasman of Brookville, Indiana; two grandchildren, Brittany (Johnny) Burns, Joshua Kaylor; two great-grandchildren, Mason Kaylor, Madi Burns and baby Leo Burns on the way; a sister & brother-in-law, Carolyn (Bob) Coleman of Brookville, Indiana.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Yocum.

Family & friends may visit from 2 until 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Metamora Church of God, 20124 U.S. Highway 52, Laurel.

Rev. Ladona Webb, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate the Funeral Services on Monday, October 23, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4025 Highland Center Road, Brookville; where friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the services at 11:00 A.M.. Burial with military Graveside Services by the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion, and Masonic Memorial Services will then follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Klemmes Corner.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Franklin County Cemetery Commission.
