Vivian Kay Franklin, 76, of Port Charlotte, Florida, formerly of Westport, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the Tidewell Hospice of Port Charlotte. She was born at the Whitlatch Clinic in Milan on July 8, 1946, the daughter of Lovell and Diana Black Bratten. She was married to Elmer Franklin, Jr. on July 2, 1966 and her husband of 56 years survives. Other survivors include one son Randy (Julie) Franklin of New Albany; one daughter Christine Shari Franklin of Port Charlotte; grandchildren Derek (Sherry) Hughes and Steven Hughes both of Port Charlotte, Levi (Taylor) Franklin and Chelsea (Cameron) Fathauer both of Sellersburg; six great-grandchildren; three sisters Diana (Les) Compton of Bloomington, Pat Fraley of Tampa, Florida, and Margaret Adams of Osgood; one brother Eddie Bratten of Springville, Florida. She was preceded in death by her daughter Linda Kaye Franklin, her parents, her brother Mickie Bratten, and her sisters Mary Flint and Billie Cutright. Mrs. Franklin was a 1965 graduate of Holton High School. Kay was a former employee of the Muscatatuck State Hospital, but was primarily a homemaker. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and gardening, but especially being grandma. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 1st at 1pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Bob McCreary of the Holton Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Saturday beginning at 11am. Memorials may be given to the Holton Christian Church or the Hopewell Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
