Mr. Oliver Harry “Ollie” Lockwood

Mr. Oliver Harry “Ollie” Lockwood, age 86, of Rising Sun, Indiana, entered this life on May 1, 1938 in East Enterprise, Indiana. He was born to the parents of Leland Scudder Lockwood and Nina Pauline (Smith) Lockwood Jacobs. He was raised by his grandparents, Fred and Opal (Scudder) Lockwood in East Enterprise, Indiana where he attended school. Ollie was inducted into the United States Air Force on September 1, 1955 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was transferred to the reserves on October 8, 1957 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Airman 2nd Class on August 31, 1961. In 1965, Oliver was employed as a line operator for Seagram’s Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, retiring in 1995 after 30 years of service. He belonged to the Union Local #6 and was a lifetime member of the Rising Sun American Legion Post #59 and the Aurora Fraternal Order of Eagles, as well as, the Aurora Moose Lodge. Oliver enjoyed playing pull tabs, gambling horse races and going to casinos. Oliver died Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at his residence.

Oliver is survived by his caregiver, Davette Glenn-Kinnett and her husband, Rick Kinnett of Lawrenceburg, IN; his daughter, Volena Lynn Wells; his son-in-law, Forest McClain of Bennington, IN; his grandchildren, James McClain and his wife, Sonja of East Enterprise, IN and Daniel McClain of Milton, KY; his half-sisters, Paula Kershner of Indianapolis, IN and Betty Reynolds and her husband, James of Carmel, IN; his half-brother, Steven Jacobs and his wife, Jan of Avon, IN, Robert Jacobs of Indianapolis, IN and Terry Jacobs and his wife, Jackie of Indianapolis, IN and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leland Scudder Lockwood; his mother, Nina Pauline (Smith) Lockwood Jacobs; his daughter, Deborah Ann McClain; his grandparents, Fred and Opal (Scudder) Lockwood; his sister, Nancy Jo Hughes; his brother, Loren P. Jacobs, Jr.; his nephew, Brandon Thomas Hughes; his step-father, Loren Paul Jacobs, Sr. and his step-mothers, Bernice B. (Sullivan) Lockwood Pike, Gladys (Walton) Lockwood Peelman, Corene (Smith) Heath Lockwood and Norma Lee (Bovard) Sherman Lockwood.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043. Interment and full military rites will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery, East Enterprise, Indiana.
