NAPOLEON, Ind. — The Napoleon Volunteer Fire Department responded to a chimney fire yesterday morning.
Just before 10:00 AM, firefighters responded to a 911 call regarding a chimney fire, in a residence near the corner of Jackson and Harrison Streets in Napoleon.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they found the fire had already entered the attic space of the home, and the fire was upgraded to a working structure fire.
The Osgood Fire Department and Batesville EMS responded as mutual aid.
Firefighters battled the blaze from the exterior until an entry team could gain access to the attic.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the primary fire, and then personnel worked to chase hot spots in the attic and walls that were smoldering behind the chimney.
No one was injured, but the house suffered extensive damage in the area near the chimney.
Fire officials remind residents with wood stoves or fireplaces to have them cleaned and inspected regularly to reduce the risk of fire.
