Tax Day

April 16, 2013
By

Do you have any money left today? I have never been one to put off paying my taxes. I figure I am going to have to pay it anyway, so why not do it in March and keep from having to worry about paying a penalty. It is hard to imagine how someone making millions would not pay their taxes–which is what many of our sports heroes do. Mike Tyson comes to mind as one who got in trouble for failing to pay his taxes. I suppose it is just like all the other things these guys waste their money on. They never think it will run out, and if it does, there is always more to make. They think, “after all, I am a sport hero and the government will look the other way.” Dieago Maradona, a World Cup hero of Argentina, just recently was cleared of tax evasion. Then there are the pro golfers who flock to the USA from other countries, win big golf matches, and go back to their own country leaving us to hold the bag. I suppose some of our golfers do that same thing in other countries, but I know they must pay taxes on these winnings here. Oh, well. I suppose it is no different than wealthy millionaires sending their money to off-shore banks to hide it from the IRS. I suppose I am mad because I never had enough money to even think about this.
