Stratton Voted In As Interim Ripley County Sheriff

An interim sheriff has been voted in to lead the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office.

A caucus was held Tuesday at the Ripley County Courthouse Annex to name a temporary replacement to Tom Grills who retired from the post on April 1.

Retired State Trooper Rodney Stratton was voted in as Ripley County Sheriff with a 16-6 vote. He was opposed by Rob Bradley.

Statton will now assume sheriff duties until December 31.

The upcoming May Primary and General Election will determine who will become the full time sheriff. Republican candidates include Jeff Cumberworth, Joe Mann and Rob Bradley. Democrat candidates are Tim Sutton and Josh Thompson.

The elected sheriff will begin a four year term on January 1, 2015.
