The number of scholarships awarded was based on the respective senior class populations in the seven public high schools located in the foundation’s grantmaking region and the total number of applications received from those eligible students attending private/parochial secondary schools.  Winners of these scholarships were drawn at random at each school from the pool of applications which were submitted to the Rising Sun Regional Foundation with official transcripts.

The Rising Sun Regional Foundation is funded by the Rising Star Casino Resort, owned by Full House Resorts, Inc., which makes monthly contributions to the foundation based on a percentage of its Adjusted Gross Revenue.

South Decatur Elementary School has introduced a new fundraising program called My School Color Run. The My School Color Run program aims to go beyond traditional fundraising. Rather than sell goods, the program aims to engage the entire student body in a fitness initiative that aims to instill a life-long healthy way of living. On Sept. 3, at 9 a.m., the students, staff, and community of South Decatur Elementary School will walk, jog, and run their way toward a healthier life while raising funds for the PTO’s Playground Revitalization Project. The color run will be held at South Decatur Jr-Sr High School, and will be open to the public. This is an untimed fun run. Participants will pass through four color stations throughout the course and end with a massive color toss at the My Color Run Post-Race Party. Participants will be treated to refreshments, music, and fun following the run. Interested participants of all ages can register by visiting www.SouthDecaturMSCR.eventbrite.com, or by completing a paper registration form prior to the event. Registration is $25 for adults 13 and older, and $20 for kids 12 and under. A family of five gets a discount at $20 per person. Pre-registration is[...]
