GREENSBURG – A three month investigation into the distribution of crystal meth in Greensburg has led to the arrest of a convicted murderer, police said Friday morning.

Greensburg Police Chief Stacey Chasteen said the department learned of the suspected meth dealing locally in May. The investigation led detectives to believing a Latino man identified as “Ben” was the primary source of the supply.

The man has been determined to be Bernabe Castillo-Moreno, 66, of Indianapolis, police said.

A background investigation revealed Castillo-Moreno is currently in the United States as an illegal alien and was previously convicted of murder and sentenced to twenty years in prison in Texas.

In conjunction with the DEA, the Greensburg Police Department served a search warrant at an Indianapolis home Thursday.

Officers say they discovered 1200 dosage units of crystal methamphetamine along with two guns during the raid.

Castillo-Moreno was taken into custody and is currently lodged in the Decatur County Jail facing two felony counts of Conspiracy to deal Methamphetamine.

Two unidentified suspects were taken into custody by the DEA, one individual has direct ties to a Mexican Drug Trafficking Organization, police said.

Chief Chasteen commended the detectives for their efforts in determining the suspect and potentially dwarfing the supply of crystal methamphetamine entering Greensburg.
