Steven Combs, Ph.D., has been named interim chancellor of the Columbus/Franklin region of Ivy Tech Community College.
He will help the region transition towards its merger with Ivy Tech Southeast.
Last week, the college announced substantial regional changes. The Southeast locations of Batesville, Lawrenceburg, and Madison will soon be combined with the Columbus and Franklin campuses.
No word on if he will oversee the reorganized region once consolidation efforts are complete.
Current Ivy Tech Southeast Chancellor Jim Helms is officially stepping down from his position on Wednesday. Upon retirement, he is completing his 51st year in education and 16th year with Ivy Tech. Helms will remain involved with the college as he officially becomes chancellor emeritus.
