Man Accused Of Striking Woman With Yankee Candle

A Sunman man is facing charges for allegedly striking a woman with a Yankee Candle glass jar and punching her multiple times.

David Keith, 37, of Sunman, was arrested after investigators responded to a battery report in Aurora on June 6.

Keith is accused of arriving at the home on Center Street in Aurora and getting into an altercation with the woman while her two young children were in a different room of the home.

Detectives say the victim was hit in the head with the glass jar and punched multiple times, causing her to possibly lose consciousness.

She refused medical treatment however there were signs of physical abuse including small laceration on her forehead and a cut to her lip, police said.

According to the Probable Cause Affidavit, detectives followed up on the investigation by interviewing Keith at his home on N. Manchester Road. Police say they saw he had fresh cuts to his hands and some blood on his fingers.

Keith has been charged with Batter with Deadly Weapon (class C felony) and Battery causing Bodily Injury (class A misdemeanor).
