Local Schools See Solid A-F Grades

INDIANAPOLIS – On Wednesday, the Indiana Department of Education approved and released 2013-2014 accountability grades for Indiana schools.

The “A-F” ratings are designed to provide a more accurate picture of school performance by incorporating student academic growth and graduation rates, as well as college and career readiness.

Each school in the Batesville, Jac-Cen-Del and Sunman-Dearborn corporations all received an A rating.

“We have good teachers, we have great families and parents and a great community,” said Batesville Community Schools Director of Student Learning Melissa Burton.

“It takes all of us working together to be a great school. We are very pleased with our A ranking and credit the hard work of a lot of people, including students.”

In addition, five other Ripley County schools receiving the top score — Milan Middle School, Milan Elementary School, St. Louis School, St. Nicholas School, South Ripley Junior High and South Ripley Elementary.

Milan and South Ripley high schools both received the letter grade of C.

In Decatur County, North Decatur Elementary and High School received an A ranking while South Elementary and South Decatur High School received a C.

Brookville Elementary School was the only Franklin County Community school to receive the top score. Brookville Middle School, Laurel School and Franklin County High School earned a B grade while Mount Carmel School received a C grade.
