IU Gives Posthumous Degree To Malaysian Flight Victim

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University has granted a posthumous doctoral degree to the family of Karlijn Keijzer.

Keijzer was among 298 people killed when Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 crashed in Ukraine this summer.

The 25-year-old was a native of the Netherlands and was pursuing a doctorate in chemistry at the Bloomington campus. She was also a member of the IU women’s rowing team.

Her family traveled to Bloomington this week to visit places she frequented on campus.
