Crash Claims Life Of North Decatur Student

The community is mourning the loss of a North Decatur High School sophomore who was killed in a crash on S.R. 3 in Greensburg late Tuesday afternoon.

Police identified the 15-year-old girl as Lindsey Noah, of Clarksburg.

She was a passenger in the 2002 Pontiac sedan her 18-year-old brother, Isiah Noah, was driving just before 6 p.m.  Police say the teen’s were traveling east on C.R. 500 North when the vehicle disregarded the stop sign at the intersection of State Road 3 and drove into the path of a 2013 Chevrolet pickup.

Noah’s vehicle was struck in the passenger side door and went into the side yard of a residence on the northeast corner of the intersection.

Isiah Noah had to be extricated from the vehicle and was initially transported to Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) and was later transferred by ambulance to Methodist Hospital, with head and possible internal injuries.

His current condition is unknown.

The Chevrolet pickup truck was driven by Rebecca Smith, 62, of Rushville. As a result of the collision, the truck overturned onto the driver’s side.

After being extricated from the vehicle, Smith was transported by ambulance to DCMH for possible internal injuries, police say.

The fatal crash is under investigation by the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department.
