Cardinals And Indians Split Games

basketballThe St. Louis 7th grade basketball team battled the visiting Milan Indians last nite at the St. Louis Activity Center winning 46-21.

The game started with both teams playing well. Kurt Siefert broke the ice with a 3 pointer to get St. Louis going and Carson Ascherman for the Indians answered the call by hitting three shots for three pointers to keep the game close at the break as the Cardinals led 22 – 14.

The Cardinals picked up the defense coming out for the third quarter led by Riley Schebler and Sam Voegele and allowed only 1 point to the Indians for the quarter. The Cardinal offense was led by Andrew Oesterling as he hit a 3 pointer of his own at the buzzer to end the third quarter giving the Cardinals the lead 35 – 15. The Indians were unable to make a charge in the fourth quarter and the game ended with a final score of 46-21.

Scoring for the Cardinals consisted of Jack Aplanalp with 2, Kurt Siefert 5, Jack Forbeck 3, Wil Freeland 4, Riley Schebler 4, Andrew Oesterling 20, Lleyton Ratcliff 4 and Sam Voegele 4.

St Louis next game is this Thursday at St Louis against Sunman Dearborn. Game time is 6:00.

The St. Louis Cardinals 8th grade boys basketball team hosted the Milan Indians Monday evening. However it was Milan who picked up the win by a final score of 26 to 25.

St. Louis struggled from the field and the foul line  throughout the game. Evan Vogelsang’s 10 4th quarter points were not enough for the Cardinals to pull out a win.
Charlie Dice finished with 11 points.

Next up for St. Louis is Sunman Dearborn at St. Louis Thursday night.
