Authorities say the watchful eye of a business owner led them to solving a theft in Versailles.

Ripley County Communications received a call Tuesday morning from Steve Arney, owner of Versailles Dunbrik. He told dispatchers he was following a vehicle that he believed had stolen property from his business at 3484 S. U.S. 421.

Arney remained on the call following the vehicle until law enforcement was able to intervene. A deputy stopped the suspect vehicle driven by Jacob Street, 26, of Moores Hill.

Two passengers were in the car, Noah Davidson, 28, and Samantha Combs, 24, both of Milan.

During the traffic stop deputies found metal they believe was stolen from the business. The metal was returned to the business.
