Battle Of The Bulldogs Goes To Centerville

The Batesville Lady Bulldogs suffered their first loss of the tennis season on Friday with a 4-1 loss at home to Centerville.
The Lady Bulldogs played well, but came up short in a few matches.
Batesville’s No. 1 doubles team of Corinne Stone and Betsy Harmeyer recorded the team’s only victory. They defeated Sidne Thompson and Bailey Miller 6-2 and 6-2. The victory improved the duo to 2-0 on the season.
Senior Sophie Brown turned in a solid effort and lost a tough three set match to Centerville’s Katy Stewart. Brown lost the first set 4-6, but bounced back to win the second 6-3. The two top singles players played a tie-breaker for the third set with Stewart winning by a score of 14-12.
Jenna Ertel and Carly Fitzpatrick suffered losses in singles play, while Lily Esser and Kayla Stone were defeated at No. 2 doubles.
Sophomore Caroline Kellerman was a winner in junior varsity play at No. 1 singles. She defeated Mar Coch by a score of 8-4.
