BATESVILLE –The Batesville School Board appointed Jeremy Raver as its newest member Monday, following the resignation of Board President Chris Lowery in July.

Lowery was selected as chancellor of Ivy Tech’s Southeast region last month resulting in his departure from the board.

Raver graduated from Batesville High School in 1997,received an undergraduate from Purdue and a Master of Business Administration from Xavier University.

He currently serves as a sales consultant at Batesville Casket Company.

The Batesville resident calls the school board nomination a great recognition and ever greater responsibility.

“It is a huge honor but also a responsibility of representing the taxpayers and the City of Batesville and surrounding areas,” Raver said. “I think the board definitely has challenges ahead of us to take the resources given and use them effectively making the school corporation as good as we can.”

Raver is a committee member on the Batesville Community Education Foundation and is no stranger to local education as his children Kaylie and Landon, are students in the corporation. His wife Charrel, is a teacher at Greensburg Community Schools.

“I look at my two small children I have and the over 2,000 students in our corporation it certainly comes with a significant amount of responsibility.”
