Barbara J. (Hayhurst) Rumsey, 81, of Aurora, IN, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016 in Lawrenceburg, IN.

She was born Thursday, June 28, 1934 in Watson, West Virginia, Daughter of the late Robert Herbert Hayhurst and the late Frances Agatha Weaver Hayhurst.

She was a member of Holman Christian Union Church. Barbara’s faith was very important to her. She lived out her life displaying her beliefs by her actions. She served as treasurer of the church for several years. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cannning, baking, playing cards and word search puzzles. Barbara also enjoyed traveling with her beloved husband of 59 years Delmar “Hoot”. She collected cups from every state they visited. She will be missed by family, friends and her Church family.

Surviving are her husband, Delmar Harry “Hoot” Rumsey, Children, Angela Kay (Arlie) Turner of Milan, IN, Teresa Ann Martin of Versailles, IN, Robert William (Karen) Rumsey of Aurora, IN, Rodney Gene Rumsey of Aurora, IN, Janice Miller of Elizabethtown, TN and Son-in-law, Gerald (late, Sue) Vornheder;Daughter-in-law, Nancy (late, Richard) Rumsey; Siblings, Helen Schumaker of Mason, OH, Betty Hugus, Amarillo,TX and Mary Coban of Del Ray Beach, FL; Grandchildren, Lynn Vornheder, Brian (Sheri) Vornheder, Stephanie (Gregg) Lecher, Missy Rumsey, Heather (Josh) Egan, Matthew (Danielle)Hilderbrand, Adam (Melinda) Rumsey, Ryan (Virginia)Rumsey, Jess Lewis, Joshua Lewis, Cody Rumsey, Bobbi (Joe) Vinup, Zachary Rumsey, Rebecca Miller, Jason Miller, Natasha (Matt) Ashley, Misty (Kevin) Dow and Kelsey Helton; 35 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sue Vornheder and sons, Tony Lee Rumsey & Richard Delmar Rumsey.

Friends will be received 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, Aurora, Indiana.

Services will be held at Holman Christian Union Church, Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 11:00 am with Pastor Michael Addison officiating.

Interment will follow at the Hogan Hill Cemetery, Aurora, IN 47001.
