Indianapolis, In. — Republican state representative from Batesville Cindy Ziemke has been appointed to the House Ways and Means Committee.
“The Ways and Means committee is paramount in crafting the state budget to fit the needs of the state for the next two years,” Ziemke said. “As a small-business owner, I look forward to lending my years of business management experience and continuing Indiana’s history of fiscal responsibility.”
The budget provides the fiscal blueprint for state operations in 2019 and 2020. General fund appropriations include K-12 education, higher education, Medicaid, health and human services, general government, corrections, public safety and capital projects.
Ziemke was also reappointed to the House Courts and Criminal Code Committee and the House Family, Children and Human Affairs Committee.
Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election. House lawmakers will convene at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 3 in the House Chamber for the first day of the 2019 legislative session.
