DECATUR COUNTY, IN — Washington Township Trustees tabled a pair of proposed bond issues this week that would have totaled $1.8 million.
If approved, the bond issues would have gone toward the clean-up and rehabilitation of Lake McCoy; the financing of a permanent township home office; and maintenance of Washington Township cemeteries.
But after hearing public comments during a two-and-a-half-hour meeting at the Decatur County Courthouse, trustees put the proposal on hold.
“We had some folks come, we took their comments and we listened to them and the board had some discussion about that it and we came to a thought that, you know what, we should pump the brakes on this,” said Washington Township Trustee Christian Rust.
As a result, trustees have formed a nine-member task force that will give further study to the matter.
