Second straight day of 5,000 or more COVID-19 cases in Indiana

STATEWIDE — The Indiana Department of Health announced Thursday that 5,027 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

That’s two days in a row with at least 5,000 new cases.

There were also 12 new deaths across the state.

Locally, Dearborn County reported 45 positive cases; Decatur County had 37 new cases; Ripley County had 25, and Franklin County reported nine cases.

There were no deaths reported in Southeastern Indiana.

Meanwhile, IDH says over 6,400 more Hoosiers have received the coronavirus vaccine, including those who have received either the Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson and Johnson vaccines.

A total of more than 3 million Hoosiers have gotten the shot.
