Veterans Day 2023: Special events, giveaways planned

(Southeastern IN) – Veterans Day is Saturday, but there are special events and giveaways planned around the area the day before.

Batesville Middle School will host its 15th annual Veterans Day Program on Friday.

Seventh-grade advanced reading/language arts students are hosting this event to celebrate veterans.

This year’s program will include band and choir performances, a recognition of veterans, and a reception following the program.

The program will be held in the main gym from 9-10 am. Veterans registration starts at 8:30 and they should enter at the BMS front door on Mulberry Street.

Milan Community Schools will host a Veterans Day program tomorrow.

Local veterans and those currently serving are invited to attend a breakfast that will be served in the Milan High School Cafetorium starting at 7:30 am followed by a program at 9 in the MHS Gym.

Veterans are invited to stop by the Decatur County Community Foundation (DCCF) office on Main Street in Greensburg from 10 am to 2 pm tomorrow for a token of appreciation.

For the fourth straight year, the community foundation is offering gift cards to thank veterans for their service.

The gift cards are made available through the Ella Jo Briggs Veterans Field of Interest Fund.

Mrs. Briggs began the fund in 2017 to support projects, activities, and services for Decatur County veterans.

Local veterans can either visit the DCCF office or call (812) 662-6364 for curbside delivery.
