Countywide burn ban in effect in Franklin County due to drought, wind combination

(Franklin County, IN) – Franklin County Commissioners have issued a countywide burn ban, which is in effect until further notice.

Ongoing windy and drought-like conditions that put the county at risk of widespread fire hazards prompted commissioners to order the ban Wednesday afternoon.

Open burning, the burning of debris, and campfires and other recreational fires – unless in an enclosed fire ring – are prohibited during the emergency situation.
