Thomas Metz

Thomas Carl Metz, of Connersville, IN, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2023. Born December 29, 1929 and raised in St. Peter’s, IN (Franklin County), he graduated from Brookville High School and served in the United States Military before pursuing a manufacturing career at Ford Motor Company. Tom was originally drafted by the US Army to serve in the Korean War, however, he was assigned to building a new airfield in the UK, including buildings and landing strips. Therefore, he was transferred to the Air Force.  Tom loved fishing, telling lies about fishing, and hosting friends and family at his home on the water in Madeira Beach from 1990 until 2007. He was especially known for his soft touch, kind heart, subtle humor, and constant generosity. One of his fondest memories was winning the CYO State Basketball Championship with St. Peter’s Catholic School where they only lost one game in two years, the prior year’s state finals.

Tom was deeply loved by his son Terrence (Lori Jo) Metz; grandchildren Joshua Cincinnati Metz and Georgia Jean Metz; great grandchildren Michael Thomas and Luka James; brother William Metz and in-laws Louis Moster and Sylvia Prickel. He is preceded in death by his siblings Roslyn Volk, Lucille Hilbert, Catherine Back, Eunice Miller, Rosemary Moster, Anthony Metz, James Metz, Harry Metz and Paul Metz; and his parents Bertha (Geis) and William Metz and his wife, Constance Teresa (Prickel) Metz.

Services for Tom will be held on Tuesday, May 2 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Peter’s, IN. Rosary will begin at 9:00am followed by visitation until 11:00am. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00am with burial immediately following in the church cemetery. Memorials can be made to Masses and the Constance Teresa Prickel Metz Scholarship Fund, which benefits students at Oldenburg Academy, managed by the Sisters of St Francis. Memorials will be taken at the visitation or can be mailed to Andres-Wuestefeld Funeral Home or the family directly.
