Batesville varsity baseball secures dominant shutout win over Milan with 7-run fifth inning

Batesville varsity baseball defeated Milan 12-0 on Tuesday as Carter Bohman and Alex Baumer combined to throw a shutout.

The Bulldogs secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the fifth inning. Batesville put the pressure on with singles by Jaiden Kuria and Carson Schneider, a fielder’s choice by Baumer, and a double by Jack Grunkemeyer.

One bright spot for Milan was a single by Holden Acra in the first inning.

Bohman led things off on the hill for Batesville, lasting three innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out two and walking zero. Baumer finished out the game throwing two scoreless innings with 2 strikeouts.

Jacob McGuire started the game for Milan, lasting four and two-thirds innings, allowing nine hits and 12 runs while striking out four. Dylan Thomas threw one-third of an inning in relief.

Batesville had nine hits in the game. Grunkemeyer and Will Jaisle each managed two hits to lead the team.
