South Ripley held off South Decatur 46-42 in girls high school basketball action heard last night on WRBI…Elsewhere, Class 3A #1 Greensburg rolled over Shelbyville 65-12, and it was Madison over South Dearborn 66-32…Coming up tonight, Milan is at Jac-Cen-Del.

In boys middle school basketball last night, Batesville knocked off Jac-Cen-Del 41-22 in 7th grade play, and BMS took the 8th grade contest 40-21…St. Louis swept St. Mary’s. It was the Cardinals winning the 7th grade game 28-22, while the St. Louis 8th grade squad came out on top 32-15.

St. Louis 5th and 6th grade boys basketball split with Greendale. The Cardinals took the 5th grade game 44-21 and it was the Bengals in 6th grade play 44-9.

Congratulations to South Ripley’s Claire Samples and Elizabeth McKittrick, who shared top honors in their respective sports in the first winter 2024-25 edition of the ORVC Report. Samples is the Girls Basketball Co-Player of the Week after scoring 71 points, pulling down 29 rebounds, dishing out 19 assists, and recording 10 steals in four games. McKittrick garnered Girls Swimming Co-Performer of the Week honors after recording times of :27.32 in the 50 yard free and 2:13.84 in the 200 yard freestyle. The South Ripley Community School Corporation will induct the inaugural class of the South Ripley Athletic Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Saturday, February 12, at 1 p.m. in the high school Auditeria. Following the ceremony, the eight inductees will be introduced during the boys’ basketball game that evening. The Class of ’25 inductees are Steve Allen, Sam Durham, Debbie Jett-Mack, Jeff Lauber, Tom Linkmeyer, Ashlee (Lauber) Miller, the late Gus Moorhead and John Sexton.

Indiana is seeded 7th and Notre Dame is in the 8th spot in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings.

In the NBA tonight, the Pacers take on the Rockets. Tipoff in Houston is at 8:00.
