Batesville went on the road and knocked off Shelbyville 50-43 in a girls basketball game heard Saturday afternoon on WRBI. Marlee Obermeyer led the way for the Bulldogs with 14 points, followed Kaylin Kathman with 12 and Maddie Haskamp with 10 points. The Bulldogs have won five in a row and are now 7-2 on the season…Elsewhere, Class 3A #1 Greensburg won both of its games in Saturday’s Evansville North Shootout. In the battle between 3A #1 and #2, the Pirates came out on top over Silver Creek 66-59. Greensburg took down Princeton 68-52 in the nightcap to improve 10-0…And it was Oldenburg Academy over South Decatur 45-27.

Whiteland topped East Central 59-49 in boys basketball heard Saturday night on WRBI. The Trojans Peyton Hofer led all scorers with 20 points. EC falls to 1-1…In other action, South Ripley downed North Decatur 60-34. The Raiders Cole Henry led all scorers with 32 points…It was Lawrenceburg over Milan 68-34…Jac-Cen-Del edged Rising Sun 59-51…And Tri beat South Decatur 50-41.

St. Louis hosted a 6th grade boys basketball tourney on Saturday and finished third. St. Michael topped the Cardinals 23-13. St. Louis took the second game over Milan 24-13.

The Charlotte Hornets bested the Pacers 113-109 in NBA action heard last evening on WRBI. T.J. McConnell led Indiana with 30 points. With the loss, the Pacers drop to 10-15.

Seventh-seeded Notre Dame and 10th seed Indiana will meet in the first round of the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff. The Hoosiers will play the Fighting Irish in South Bend on December 20 at 8 p.m. Both teams are 11-1. The top four seeded teams receiving first round byes are Oregon, Georgia, Boise State and Arizona State.

In the NFL, the Colts are wrapping up their bye week. The Bengals take on the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. They’ll kick it off in Arlington, Texas tonight at 8:15.

And former Reds outfielder Dave Parker has been selected induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame by the Classic Baseball Era Committee. Parker is a Cincinnati native who played 19 years in the major leagues. He played for the Reds from 1984-87. Parker will be inducted into Cooperstown in late July.
