Batesville and East Central split a girls/boys basketball doubleheader heard Saturday night on the Sports Voice. Class 4A #13 East Central rolled over Batesville 55-28 in the girls contest. The Trojans Natalie Stenger led all scorers with 18 points. Audrina Dugan added 13. Molly Gesell tossed in nine to lead the Bulldogs, who fall to 7-5 overall and 2-3 in the EIAC. EC goes to 10-1 and 5-0…Class 3A #15 Batesville routed the host Trojans 68-51 in the boys game. James Hughes went off for 23 points (12 in the third quarter) to lead the Bulldogs. Teammates Brayden Maple and Kamryn Holcomb both scored 14. Cole Reynolds paced EC with 13 points. Batesville is 5-0 while East Central dips to 2-3…BHS also won the JV boys game 57-38. Sam Dice led the Bulldogs with 14 points while Hank Bohman added 13.
In other girls games on Saturday, it was 3A #3 Greensburg over South Ripley 80-53; Franklin County got past Jac-Cen-Del 68-60, and South Dearborn nipped Milan 36-34.
In other boys contests from Saturday, South Ripley topped South Decatur 80-70. Four Raiders scored in double figures: Drew Volz 23 points; Eli Gilpin 14; Dylan Jessee 13, and Blake Gunter 12. The Cougars Caidon Drake led all scorers with 24 points; Drake Scaggs added 16, and Aidon Bryant tossed in 13…Franklin County got by Greensburg 42-39, and it was Oldenburg Academy over Rising Sun 64-58.
North Decatur went on the road and knocked off Southwestern (Shelby) 52-31 in boys 8th grade basketball on Saturday. The 9-1 Chargers were led by Trey Brown’s 14 points. Davis Scripture added 13 and Jake Whitaker scored 10.
The Indiana Pacers visit the Boston Celtics in NBA action tonight. WRBI airtime is 7 p.m.
The Cincinnati Bengals routed the Miami Dolphins 45-21 in NFL action yesterday. The Bengals led 17-14 at halftime but put the game away in the 3rd quarter with three takeaways and a stop of the Dolphins on 4th down. Cincinnati scored 21 points off Miami turnovers. Joe Burrow threw for 309 yards and four touchdowns. Chase Brown found the end zone three times. Brown had two touchdown catches and ran for another score. The Bengals snap a two-game losing streak and go to 5-10 with the win.
The Indianapolis Colts entertain the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football. Kickoff in downtown Indy is 8:15.
