In a boys’ soccer match heard Saturday on WRBI, it was Batesville over Franklin County 5-1. Talen Rowlett recorded a hat trick for the Bulldogs, who remain undefeated on the season.

Oldenburg Academy routed Jac-Cen-Del 8-1. Jacob Hilbert and Conner Holder both recorded hat tricks for the Twisters. Hayden Blair and Henry Wanstrath added goals for OA. The Eagles avoided the shutout on a last-minute goal by Conner Yeggy.

Batesville boys’ tennis finished 1-2 at the Shelbyville Invitational on Saturday. The Bulldogs came in third out of four teams. Also participating were Greensburg, Indianapolis Bishop Chatard and the host Golden Bears.

Greensburg girls’ cross country won seven-team Lou Knoble Invitational at Madison on Saturday. The Pirates Madeline Risher was the individual girls invite champion. The Greensburg boys team came in second, just five points behind the host Cubs. The Pirates Jackson Tekulve led from start to finish and was crowned individual boys’ invite champion.

East Central girls’ golf finished fourth at Saturday’s New Palestine Invitational. The Trojans Rowan Pies shot a 70 to take medalist honors.

The Pirates knocked off the Reds 4-3 in Pittsburgh yesterday. Yasmani Grandal’s two-run homer in the bottom of the 9th off Reds closer Alexis Diaz it for the Pirates, who take three out of four in the weekend series. Diaz was hung with the loss while former Red Aroldis Chapman notched the win in relief. The Reds are off today before returning home to start a three-game interleague series tomorrow night against the Oakland Athletics.

Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase practiced over the weekend and apparently ended his hold-in. Multiple outlets are reporting Chase was a full participant and is expected to practice all week. Chase conducted a hold in during Bengals training camp while looking for a new contract, and still has time remaining on his rookie deal.

In the WNBA Saturday night in Minneapolis, it was the Minnesota Lynx over the Indiana Fever 90-80. Caitlin Clark led the Fever with 23 points and eight assists.

In auto racing, Will Power led wire-to-wire to win Sunday’s IndyCar race at Portland International Raceway. Power is now within 54 points of championship leader Alex Palou with three races remaining in the season. Palou finished 2nd on Sunday.

Harrison Burton took the checkered flag at Saturday’s NASCAR Cup series race at Daytona International Speedway. It was Burton’s first Cup series win.

Lake Mary, Florida rallied to beat Taiwan 2-1 in 8 innings to take the Little League World Series title.
