Samuel Fleetwood Bruce, age 65 of Sunman, Indiana passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022. The son of Willard Fleetwood and Bernice (Westerman) Bruce was born on September 4, 1956 in Batesville.
Sam worked for Batesville Casket Company and had been there for almost 45 years. On July 3, 1981 he married, Susan Rae Schebler at St. Nicholas Church in Sunman. Sam was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Batesville.
Sam truly enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was fishing, out on the golf course or playing and watching all kinds of sports. IU and the Colts were his two favorite teams to follow.
Sam was into Volkswagen Beetles. He owned a 1977 convertible and also collected various small VW models. Sam enjoyed listening to older music, and Susan would go with him to different concerts throughout the years. Everyone knew Sam loved all his pets, especially his dog Boomer. Most of all though he loved being with his family.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Susan; daughter, April Rae Bruce; son, Dustin Fleetwood Bruce; grandson, Axel Fleetwood Bruce along with his father & mother-in-law, Ray and Edith Schebler and brothers & sisters-in-law, Ray & Melonye Schebler and Judy & Phil Hardesty.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Amber Rae Bruce who died as an infant and his two sisters, Shirley Howard and Mary Payne.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from 11am – 1pm with 1:00pm funeral services all at Meyers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the St. Louis Cemetery in Batesville.
Memorials can be given to Shriner’s Hospital for Children by bringing to the services or mailing to Meyers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 202, Batesville, IN 47006.
